Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Unified Motion Systems ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the UMS Remotes app for Android ("the App").
Short version: UMS Remotes is a Bluetooth Low Energy remote control app for compatible RC vehicles. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, contains no ads, and does not use any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. All data stays on your device.
By using UMS Remotes, you agree to the terms of this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. UMS Remotes requires no account, no registration, and no sign-in of any kind.
The App stores the following information locally on your device only, so it can connect to your vehicles:
- Paired device list — names and Bluetooth addresses of RC vehicles you've connected to
- App settings — your default vehicle, control preferences, and saved configurations
None of this information ever leaves your device. We have no servers that the App communicates with.
Permissions We Use
UMS Remotes requests the following Android permissions, all of which are required for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity:
- Bluetooth / Nearby Devices (Bluetooth Scan & Connect) — required to discover and connect to your RC vehicle over Bluetooth Low Energy.
- Location — on some versions of Android, the operating system requires the Location permission in order for an app to scan for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices. UMS Remotes does not access, read, or store your device's GPS location, and does not use this permission for any location-based purpose. It exists solely because Android ties BLE scanning to this permission.
These permissions can be reviewed and managed at any time in your device's Settings → Apps → UMS Remotes → Permissions. Denying them will prevent the App from connecting to vehicles, but no other functionality is affected.
How We Use Information
The Bluetooth connection between your phone and your RC vehicle is used solely to send control commands (such as joystick input, lights, and vehicle-specific controls) and to receive status feedback from the vehicle.
The list of paired devices and your app settings are stored locally so the App can remember your vehicles between sessions. This data is used only to provide the App's core functionality and is never transmitted anywhere.
Advertising and Third-Party Services
UMS Remotes contains no advertisements and does not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The App does not connect to the internet for any purpose other than, potentially, future software update checks — and does not transmit any personal or device data if it does.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer any information to third parties, because we do not collect any information beyond what is stored locally on your device as described above.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests from public authorities. In practice, since we hold no data on our servers, we would have nothing to provide.
Data Retention and Security
Your paired device list and app settings are stored locally on your device using Android's standard app storage mechanisms. This data persists until you remove a device within the App, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
We take reasonable precautions in how the App is built to ensure it behaves as described. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
UMS Remotes is not directed at children under the age of 13. As the App does not collect any personal information from any user, there is no personal data collected from children either.

Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data under applicable law (such as GDPR in Europe or the Privacy Act in New Zealand).
Because UMS Remotes stores data only on your device and transmits nothing to us, you have direct and complete control over it at all times — you can view, modify, or delete your paired devices and settings within the App, or remove everything by uninstalling the App.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if future versions of the App add new features such as ads or cloud sync. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top, and we encourage you to review it periodically.
Continued use of UMS Remotes after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
