Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Unified Motion Systems ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the SnapBook app for Android ("the App").
Short version: SnapBook is a task manager and personal diary. All your tasks, diary entries, photos, and videos are stored locally on your device — there is no account, no cloud sync, and we have no access to your content. The App displays ads served by a third-party ad network, which may collect certain device data as described below.
By using SnapBook, you agree to the terms of this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
Information We Collect
We do not collect or transmit any personal information to our servers. SnapBook requires no account, no registration, and no sign-in of any kind.
The following content is created by you and stored only on your device:
- Tasks and reminders — titles, due dates, and completion status
- Diary entries — text content you write
- Photos and videos — media you capture or attach to diary entries
- Location tags — only if you choose to enable location tagging for an entry
- App preferences — theme, settings, and lock configuration
None of this content ever leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it (for example, exporting your diary as a PDF or Word document).
Permissions We Use
SnapBook requests the following Android permissions, each tied to a specific feature you control:
- Camera — to capture photos and videos for your diary entries. Only used when you tap the camera button.
- Storage / Media — to save and retrieve photos, videos, and exported diary files on your device.
- Location — used only if you enable the optional "geo-tagging" setting, to attach a location to a diary entry. This permission can be denied without affecting core app functionality.
- Biometric / Fingerprint — used only if you enable the app lock feature, to unlock the app using your device's built-in biometric authentication.
All of these permissions are optional except where required for the specific feature you're using, and can be managed at any time in your device's Settings → Apps → SnapBook → Permissions.
How We Use Information
All content you create — tasks, diary entries, photos, videos, and location tags — is used solely to provide the App's core functionality on your device. It is stored in a local database and local file storage managed by Android.
Biometric authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system (e.g. Android BiometricPrompt). SnapBook never receives, stores, or has access to your fingerprint, face data, or any biometric information — it only receives a yes/no result from the operating system.
You can delete any task, diary entry, or attached media at any time from within the App, or remove all App data by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling it.
Third-Party Advertising Services
SnapBook is free to download and is supported by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising platform operated by Google LLC.
To serve relevant ads, Google AdMob may collect and use certain information from your device, which may include:
- Advertising ID — your device's resettable advertising identifier
- Device information — device type, operating system version, and language
- IP address — used to determine approximate location for ad targeting
- App usage data — interactions with displayed ads
This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review it:
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through your Android device settings under Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation, or by resetting your Advertising ID.
Important: AdMob has no access to your diary entries, photos, videos, tasks, or any other content you create within SnapBook. Ad personalisation is based solely on device-level signals, not on your in-app content.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer any personal information or app content to third parties.
The only third-party data exchange that occurs is between your device and Google AdMob as described in Section 5 above. We have no access to or control over the data collected by AdMob.
If you choose to export your diary (e.g. as a PDF or Word document) and share that file yourself, that sharing is under your control and outside the scope of this policy.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests from public authorities.
Data Retention and Security
All tasks, diary entries, photos, videos, and settings are stored locally on your device using Android's standard app storage and database mechanisms. This data persists until you delete it within the App, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
If you enable the optional app lock, SnapBook uses Android's FLAG_SECURE to prevent screenshots and screen recording while the App is open, and locks the App after a period of inactivity or when it is sent to the background.
We take reasonable precautions to protect the App's integrity. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — particularly if your device itself is compromised or unlocked by another person.
Children's Privacy
SnapBook is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove such information.
Please note that while SnapBook itself does not collect data, the Google AdMob SDK has its own policies regarding children and COPPA compliance. If you are using the App with a child, please review Google's guidance on child-directed apps.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data under applicable law (such as GDPR in Europe or the Privacy Act in New Zealand).
Because SnapBook stores your content only on your device, you have direct and complete control over it at all times — you can view, export, or delete it within the App, or remove it entirely by uninstalling the App.
For rights relating to Google AdMob's data practices, you can manage ad personalisation and your Advertising ID directly through your Android device settings. For any other data-related requests, please contact us via the email below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Continued use of SnapBook after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
